Kohima, Oct 11: Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, the leader of the NPF Legislature Party, announced that the merger between the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the Nationalist Democratic People's Party (NDPP) is set to take place soon. This statement was made during a special prayer event organized by the NPF at its central office on Friday.
In a press release, the NPF highlighted its aim for 'spiritual renewal and unity' among its members as they approach the merger with the NDPP.
Nienu emphasized that the merger is becoming a reality due to the sincere prayers of the community. He noted that the NPF, once thought to be on the decline, is poised to regain its strength and return to power. He urged all members to remain loyal and humble, avoiding overconfidence in their political endeavors, while calling for earnest prayers for the upcoming merger day.
NPF president Apong Pongener expressed his appreciation to those who organized the prayer event and reflected on the contributions of the party's founders, who established a solid foundation despite numerous challenges. He encouraged current leaders to honor their legacy and to continue advancing with unity and faith. Pongener also called for divine guidance not just for the party but for the entire Naga community, urging prayers for the success of the merger.
Sano Vamuzo, an adviser to the NPF central women’s wing, remarked on the nearing merger of the two regional parties. She acknowledged the struggles the NPF has faced over the years but praised its resilience through faith and determination. Noting the current division and disillusionment among the Naga people, she stressed the importance of unity and spiritual renewal, describing the prayer event as timely amidst the party's reorganization. Vamuzo encouraged all members to seek divine wisdom and remain true to the party's founding principles.
The event was attended by Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and NPF secretary general, along with other senior leaders and party members. It was chaired by Atou Lieziestu, the general secretary, with Mathew Rongmei, the press secretary, documenting the proceedings.
